The pregnant
singer during her Ugandan tour, took time out to speak at Mariam High School in
Kampala, Uganda. While imploring the teenage girls on unwanted teenage
pregnancies, abortions and more, Tiwa Savage talked used her life experiences
as an example for the young girls. Narrating how she had wanted to be a
musician but her parents insisted on her going to school first, the singer had
the following to say….
On music: “From young age, i had always wanted to be a singer but my parents
insisted that i went to school. My parents wanted me to be a lawyer, engineer,
doctor etc. So after i got a first degree in Business Administration, i decided
to do music but my parents still insisted on me going the university. I would
tell them ‘but Beyonce didn’t go to the university, Rihanna didn’t, so why
should i?’ and they would say, this is Africa. So i went back to get a second
degree in music.”
On early sex: I have
some mistakes in my life but the beautiful thing about making a mistake is that
you have to dust yourself and get up. Having unprotected sex can give you
sexually transmitted diseases that there is no cure for. I was a little girl
like you when i made mistakes too but God changed my story and if he can do it
for me, trust me, trust him he can do it for you too.
Life
is about planning ahead, so if you as a young person do not plan for
parenthood, you will always be dependent on other people and unable to break
out of the cycle of poverty. It is not good to keep on being helpless – we have
to take responsibility for our lives”, the
singer said.
The singer has been who has been in Uganda for a cause
recently had a massive presentation as part of the Uganda tour, in which she surprisingly did a
belly-dance, twerked, digging it down low on stage not minding her protruding
tummy to the admiration of all.
