Though the child you see above is still learning to speak, he is already the youngest DJ in South Africa, reports the Associated Press.
Oratilwe Hlongwane, known as DJ AJ, began playing with the DJ app on his father's iPad when he was still in diapers, according to the AP. His parents were amazed when AJ, now 2, was able to replicate what he'd done on the iPad on actual DJ equipment.
AJ's mother Refiloe Marumo credits his father Glen Hlongwane for their son's musical genius. Before AJ was even born, his father bought an iPad with educational apps to speed up the child's education.
Little AJ already has
sponsorships, according to a CCTV Africa video,
and he performs in South Africa. He also has more than 27,000 Facebook fans.
AJ's parents have gotten some hate for the attention the
toddler has gotten. "It was hard watching people say negative stuff about
our kid and, you know, not having the power to fight back, because we see that
whether you do good or bad, people will forever talk ... celebrity people go
through that. It's something we had to learn and get over," Marumo told
CCTV.
Still, Marumo and Hlongwane insist they will not yet let
AJ play at parties nor will they force him to become a DJ when he grows up,
despite his impressive display of talents at such a young age.
If only
parents didn't abide by that logic. If only mine had
insisted all these years that I do what I was best at as a 2-year-old and
become a professional tantrum-thrower. Best of luck to you, AJ.
