Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that despite the purchase of permanent voters cards (PVCs) by outgoing governor Rotimi Amaechi, the APC will be roundly defeated in the state.
Speaking during the commencement of his Ward to Ward campaign in Wards 1, 2 and 3 of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Monday, Barrister Wike accused Amaechi of using state funds to buy PVCs across the state, noting that this panic buying will not save APC from defeat.
Barrister Wike advised the people to resist Amaechi’s attempt to buy PVCs. He said that the people of the state have resolved to vote out Amaechi, Dakuku and APC because they failed use the resources of the state judiciously. While regretting that the communities visited in the three wards lack basic amenities, Barrister Wike pledged that his administration will build roads, improve on their markets and empower traders with special business grants.
He said: “We have started ward to ward campaigns to ensure our message get to every locality in the state. I have entered into a contract with the people of these three wards and I will fulfil all promises made”. The PDP Governorship Candidate said that the APC has done nothing in the three wards of Obio/Akpor to warrant votes from the people.
He called on the people to vote massively for President Jonathan and all other PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections, pointing out that their future lies in PDP. He said: “This election is not about political parties. This is about development and I will offer you development in the three wards of development. “I am here on a mission to develop Rivers State. I am the only person that will remember all the communities of the state”.
Responding, Dr OVC Okene assured that the people of the state will vote Barrister Wike and all other PDP candidates. In all the three wards visited, traditional rulers and chiefs endorsed Barrister Wike for the governorship of state.
