14-yr-old girl fatally shot in fight that started on Facebook


A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday night after a fight that started on Facebook turned deadly.


Police in Birmingham, Alabama are investigating a homicide after a triple shooting on Friday, February 27 left a 14-year-old girl, Kierra'onna Rice dead and at least two others injured.
Investigators learned that the incident started with a quarrel among several girls on Facebook.
According to police, a group of teens wanted to record themselves fighting to post the video on social media.
Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards says several of the girls, including the victim, agreed to meet at a the park and fight.
After the fight started, police say two black males, ages 17 and 19, pulled out their guns and began firing at the girls.
Witnesses identified the suspects as the shooters and they were taken into custody.
Birmingham police said they believe one of the suspects was dating one of the girls who was fighting with Rice.
According to Lt. Edwards, police responded to a report of a person shot in a park in the 900 block of Washington Avenue Southwest around 6:15 p.m. Friday.
When officers got to the scene, they learned that the victim had been taken to Baptist Princeton Medical Center with a life-threatening injury.
 Rice later died from her injuries at the hospital.
Two other victims were taken to UAB Hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
