Chris Brown’s Probation Ends: Judge Rules He Won’t Go To Prison

Chris has finally caught a break! The bad boy pop star is off probation 6 years and 1 month after his brutal beatdown of Rihanna. A judge signed off on the deal during a court hearing – meaning the under-fire singer is out of the legal system.

Chris Brown, 25, escaped jail at a court hearing in Los Angeles on March 20 and is officially off probation. The probation department had initially recommended that Chris be thrown in the slammer after a series of events involving the “Ayo” star, including two shootings he was witness to — one in a club during a San Jose club appearance and another at a pre-VMAs party at 1OAK in which Suge Knight was wounded. They also took issue with the fact Chris didn’t get permission to leave L.A. County to perform the gig in San Jose.
However, a judge decided to rule in Chris’ favor and close the Rihanna felony assault case for good – following a u-turn by the probation department. A probation officer gave Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin a glowing reference about Chris completing his community labor requirements, and even claimed they were satisfied with his excuse for traveling to San Jose.
After the judge lifted his probation, Chris turned to his attorney Mark Geragos and the pair hugged in the courtroom celebrating the verdict. The R&B sensation then took to social media to tweet: “IM OFF PROBATION!!!!!!!! Thank the Lord!!!!!!”
