Adamawa In Chaos As Gov. Bala Spends N400M on 4 Cars

This, PMNews reports, is as a result of the decision of the Adamawa state governor, Bala Ngilari to buy two Lexus SUVs for N180million ($900,000) and two Hilux pick up vans at N400million. The new development has triggered outrage from members of the state House of Assembly which made members of the house pass a resolution calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe the unscrupulous purchases of the governor.
Reports also made it known that the House which has now split into factions, has also urged the state government to bring back the sacked Director General of the state Public Procurement Bureau, Malam Bello Umar. The house made it known that Bello Umar was sacked by the Governor for not agreeing to play ball over the governor’s purchase.
Deputy Speaker, Kwamoti Laori, told the house that the state government had sacked the Director General of the state Public Procurement Bureau after whistle-blowing on the executive recklessness. Laori also claimed the Lexus cars were used ones.

However, online research shows that a used Lexus armoured car can go for about $120,000, while a new one usually sells for less than $200,000.
