HIV self-testing kits go on sale in the UK

The first legally approved HIV self-testing kit has gone on sale in the UK, from BioSure.

A home-kit costing just under £30 (9,000 naira plus) allows a user to perform a simple blood test at home, and casually check if they're HIV positive or not in under 20 minutes.

For discretion, it's only available to buy online, and the MD of the company says it's a huge step forwards towards normalising HIV testing.

"Knowing your HIV status is critical and the launch of this product will empower people to discreetly test themselves when it is convenient to them and in a place where they feel comfortable," she told the Guardian.

This is a nice idea, and i do hope that National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) in Nigerian will aid to bring this self-testing kit to Nigeria.
