Rivers State Police Command yesterday nabbed three alleged kidnappers in Port Harcourt, the State capital.
The kidnappers were rounded up after they abducted one Chimkere Ejim, using a Nissan Primera.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Mohammad, the police apprehended the abductors after acting swiftly to a tip-off.
Mohammad further added that the police consequently gave the kidnappers a chase, leading to the rescue of the victim, while two other members of the gang escaped.
His words, “On Sunday, 26/04/2015 at about 07.07 hours, 7am along Ekene Street, Port Harcourt, acting on a distress call, policemen, attached to Miniokoro Division, intercepted and demobilised a Nissan Primeria with suspected kidnappers and their victim, one Chimkwere Ejim, of No. 12, Ekene Street, Port Harcourt.
“The said victim was rescued while three of the suspected kidnappers were arrested. Two others escaped. The operational vehicle with number plate DY 520 SMK, used by the kidnappers, was recovered”, the Rivers police spokesman said.
The State PPRO also stated that the police are on the trail of the escaped kidnappers.
He however added that those nabbed are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court soon.
