A two-year-old boy has died in a house fire in Beenleigh, south of
Brisbane. Authorities believe it was the infant's birthday. His father tried to
save him. 'A two-year-old child has been found deceased, his parents are very
traumatised,' Acting Police Inspector John Henry said. 'We believe it was
his birthday today, the little fella'.
A mother and five of her children were home at the time of the fire. She
and four of her children escaped the property.
Acting Insp Henry said the father had gone to school to pick up the
family's eldest child when the fire broke out.
A Queensland police spokeswoman confirmed the boy's death to Daily Mail
Australia.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving a 000 call at
2:51pm local time.
A Fire and Rescue Services spokeswoman said the fire was 'well involved'
when firefighters arrived. She said the fire was under control by 3:31pm.
