PHOTOS: Uniport Student Rampage at UPTH over the Death of Their Colleague

Report reaching me confirms that student of University of Portharcourt were on a rampage on Sunday 30th of August at the University Teaching Hospital (UPTH) following the death of a female student of the University after she was rushed to the hospital as an emergency but no medical personnel was available to attend to her after many hours.

An eye witness confirmed that workers (doctors/nurses) of UPTH took to their heel for fear that the angry student on rampage may lynch them. Patients who were on treatment in the Hospital were left to their fate as all medical personnel ran away for their dear life.

Ambrose Alli University Professor Wins N58Million In Sports Bet

A Professor of Computer Engineering at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Godwin Ighalo, has won the sum of N58,945,553, after placing bets with N800 in 1960Bet.

It is the biggest sum ever won in the history of sports betting in Nigeria. The sexagenarian accomplished the feat after placing bets on two different bet slips of N500 and N300.

On the N500 ticket, Prof Ighalo won N36,840,971.25 while the N300 slip won him N22,104,582.75. Ighalo, who was accompanied by two of his relatives, on Wednesday, received his cheque at the head office of the country’s top sports betting company in Lagos.

EFCC Begins Probe of Amaechi's Alleged N60bn Sale Proceeds

The Economic and Financial Crimes Com­mission (EFCC) has com­menced a probe of im­mediate past governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, based on a peti­tion from a Port Harcourt-based group, The Integrity Group.

The commission will beam its searchlight on some of Amaechi’s projects executed while in office.

Acting on a July 29 peti­tion, the EFCC has already written to the Permanent Secretary of the state’s Min­istry of Finance and the Ac­countant General to furnish it with details on the proj­ects being investigated.

Pandemonium occurred at the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference holding in Abuja when Members of the Port-Harcourt branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), on Monday disrupted a session of the conference over an invitation extended to former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Ameachi to address them.

A United States Bank writes to Buhari ; Plans to return Former Governor Amaechi's N80b loot.

Mr. Amaechi had written to Bancorp Bank in Minnesota in the United States that the alleged $757 million Dollars domiciled in an account in his name; was authorized by him in error; from a Rivers State Government Account with Access Bank Plc. The former governor's letter reveals that a similar letter was also written to a bank in Switzerland; stating that a similar authorization was made in error. 

The letter stated that the said transfers to both banks were for the purchase of security Helicopters, payments to a foreign company to combat malaria in Rivers state by using helicopters to spray mosquito insecticides, and for the purchase of an official residence for Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in America. The letter further explains that, the payments for the security helicopters, and mosquito insecticides to fight malaria were made through other sources, after the funds had already been transferred abroad. He reminded the bank that the Rivers state law on his severance package, provides for an official residence for a former governor; of which he chose to have his residence in America. 

Rivers Election: Tribunal Strikes Out APC's Application

The Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has declined to order the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to transfer all the materials that were used for the conduct of the April 11 governorship election in Rivers state, to Abuja for inspection.

‎In a ruling this morning, the Justice Muazu Pindiga-led tribunal dismissed the application which was made by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside.

RIVERS ELECTION: Dakuku Peterside may have rigged the elections

As the Rivers APC continues with the inspection of ballot papers and other election materials, information reaching me has it that Dakuku Peterside may have rigged the elections in Opobo/Nkoro local government area. A total of 1,153,998 ballot papers are to be inspected by the APC. And out of the 896,546 ballot papers that have been inspected so far; the APC has confirmed 846,041 valid votes in favour of the PDP and 50,505 valid votes for the APC. The report shows that, the 50,505 votes of the APC came mostly from Opobo/Nkoro and Eleme local government areas.

Engineering Prospective NYSC Members to be Posted to Engineering Organisations

Report coming from the ongoing 24th Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN) engineering assembly in Abuja has it that COREN and National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) have resolved that all engineering graduates from universities and polytechnics would be posted to only engineering organisations for their primary assignment on the basis of availability space at such organisations. 

This is a welcome development and i believe this will go a long way in developing engineering practice and promote industrial experience in Nigeria.

Rotimi Amaechi To Face EFCC

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State on Tuesday insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari must investigate the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, over allegations of corruption.

This is just as the party petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, detailing alleged corrupt practices that took place under Amaechi

The PDP Deputy Publicity Secretary in Rivers, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike, said since President Buhari had promised to maintain a zero tolerance for corruption, he should not be silent on how the past administration in Rivers managed the affairs of the state.

WAEC Releases May/June 2015 WASSCE Results

The West African Examinations Council has released the May/June 2015 Senior School Certificate Examination results, withholding 118,101 candidates’ results out of the 1.5 million students that sat the examination.

WAEC Head of National Office, Mr. Charles Eguridu, announced this in Lagos at a press conference on Monday.

Eguridu added that the states owing WAEC had reduced to 13, saying the candidates in public schools in the 13 states would not have their results until their state governments pay their candidates’ registration fees.

A video has surfaced online, showing the level of corruption that took place during the tenure of  former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi. The video, which was put together by an anonymous concerned citizen who gave his name as “Common Man, claims that between 2007 and 2013, Amaechi received the monthly sum of N14 billion, which is about almost N900 billion over the course of 6 years.The expository documentary also showed the state of social amenities left behind by Amaechi, especially as regards roads.The narrator, who is evidently unhappy about the state of things, takes a tour to several part of the capital, Port Harcourt.

Malaysian Flight MH370 Crash Site Found?

After almost a year and a half of continuous search, families of those involved in this unfortunate incident than finally begin have some sort of real closure. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, with 239 people aboard, disappeared after taking off from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, early on March 8, 2014, whilst bound for Beijing.

Despite earnest search, it had never been found baffling many minds about how an entire plane could just disappear into thin air. But last week, debris found near a French Island seemed consistent with the missing aircraft.
