BREAKING NEWS: THE SENATE CONFIRMS AMAECHI AS MINISTER

Finally, the Senate has confirmed the nomination of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, as a minister of the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Amaechi's was confirmed as a minister after the senate voted in favor of his nomination.

AMAECHI to Know Fate Today as Senate commences approval of Ministerial Nominees

The Senate has commenced approval of the screened ministerial nominees, so far it has approved nomination of; Ocholi Enojo James, Baba Shehuri Mustapha Cladius Omoleye Daramola, Heineken Lokpobiri , Khadija Abba Ibrahim, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Zainab S. Ahmed, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama,dewole Folorunso,Mansur Mohammed Dan Ali,Pastor Usani Uguru,Prof. Anwuka Anthony Gozie, Adamu Adamu, Mohammed Musa Bello.

It is still not clear whether the Senate will give approval to the nomination of Rotimi Amaechi. 

PDP and APC Senators In A Separate Meetings Over Amaechi

AHEAD of today’s confirmation of screened Ministerial nominees by the Senators, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP senators are at the moment holding a crucial meeting.

The meeting as gathered is for the lawmakers to take a position on former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi as they have vowed to work against his confirmation.

The World's Heaviest Man Who Weighs Almost 1000 Pounds To Undergo Gastric Bypass Surgery

The world's heaviest man - who weighs in at a staggering 960 lbs - is going for fat reduction surgery tomorrow.  A team of seven staff had to help hoist Andres Moreno out of bed and onto a special reinforced stretcher to transport him from his home in Obregon City to a Guadalajara hospital for the gastric bypass on Wednesday. The 37-year-old had become bed bound over recent years due to his weight and also suffers from a variety of serious illnesses.

A 7.5 magnitude quake that struck Afghanistan and Pakistan on Monday has killed more than two hundred people in the two countries, with the death toll expected to rise higher as more information comes in.

Supreme Court Dismisses Wike’s Suit Against Rivers Tribunal

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, dismissed the suit filed by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, challenging the jurisdiction of the Rivers governorship election petition tribunal to hear a petition by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dakuku Peterside.
However, the tribunal was moved to Abuja on the ground of security concerns, like those of Akwa I‎bom, Yobe, Adamawa and Borno.In his argument, Wike had argued that the tribunal sitting in Abuja had no jurisdiction over matters that transpired in the state, contending however, that the tribunal should have sat in Rivers State and not Abuja.

The 2015 MTV EMA’s were held at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan Sunday night, and various pop stars picked up honours on the night. Justin Bieber dominated the awards list, picking up five awards on the night, whilst Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ picked up song of the year. In the ‘Best African/Indian Act’ category, Diamond Platinumz picked up the award; beating Yemi Alade, AKA, Davido- and others.

THE Senate today, suspended discussions of the report of Committee of Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions which has been laid to begin the Screening of former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi Arrives National Assembly For Screening Today

Former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi pictured as he arrived at the National Assembly this morning. 6 ministerial nominees are set for screening today and Amaechi will be screened first as his name appeared on the list. The other 5 to be screened today are; Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Claudius Omoleye Daramola, Prof. Adewole Isaac, Shehuri Mustapha and Ocholi James.

You will recall that Rotimi Amaechi has been embattled following his ministerial nomination, but the senate will decide his fate today. I strongly believe that the senate will give him a fair consideration as the president will not make a turn in having Amaechi serve in his cabinet.

THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA (IPOB) HAVE SHUT DOWN PORT HARCOURT CITY IN A PROTEST

People believed to be the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have locked down the city of Port Harcourt with an ongoing protest along Azikiwe road of Port Harcourt, around the Rivers State Government House.The protest is not unconnected with the arrest of one of their leaders and the Director of radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kalu by the DSS but was arrested by the DSS last week during his visit to Nigeria.

Governor Wike Dissolves 22 LGA Chairmen In Rivers State

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has on Thursday, October 8, sacked 22 caretaker committee chairmen out of the 23 local government areas of the state. In a statement at the Rivers state government house signed by Opunabo Inko Tariah, the senior special adviser on media and publicity to the governor, Wike said: “The dissolution is with immediate effect. The twenty two caretaker committees are to handover to the various heads of local government administration.”

Ghanian Airline, Starbow Plane Crash-lands in Tamale


Ghanian airline, Starbow plane en-route from Accra to Tamale crash-landed on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Tamale airport, this is the second time such an incident has happened in the aviation history of the airline.

In a statement signed by Mr James Eric Antwi – CEO of Starbow Airlines – the flight, S9110, with registration number 9GSBB went through the barricade at the end of the Tamale Airport.

Senate Reads Out Ministerial List, AMAECHI's Name Cofirmed

The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Tuesday morning read out the list of ministers at the floor of the Senate.
The Minister nominees are : Abubakar Malami, Abdurahman Dambazzau, Aisha Alhassan, Lai Mohammed, Adebayo Shittu, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Udo Udoma and Ibrahim Jibril.
Other are Rotimi Amaechi, Suleiman Adamu, Chris Nigige, Kemi Adeosun, Ibeto, Kayode Fayemi, Audu Ogbeh, and Hadi Sirika.
The senate will however, go ahead with screening of the nominees and i hope that they will do it with out fear or favour.

Gov. Nyesom Wike Maintains That He Is Not Interested In Amaechi’s Ministerial Appointment

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has insisted that he has no interest in the appointment of his predecessor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, as a minister.

Wike was reacting to claims by the All Progressives Congress that he was orchestrating a protest against Amaechi’s expected appointment as a minister.
