Actor Abe Vigoda, who
kickstarted his career in cinema with a role on the all time crime drama
classic ‘The Godfather’, has died.
Vigoda, 94, peaceably passed away on Tuesday January 26, at his
home in New Jersey.
“He died in his sleep, of natural causes. He was not sick,” his
daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, told Reuters.

PHOTOS: Dead Bodies Found Beneath A Foundation Of A Building In Enugu
There is outrage in Enugu State following the
discovery, Monday evening, shocking images of dead bodies buried in shallow
graves along the Enugu Port-Harcourt Express Road.
The incident, which occurred at the Ugwuaji Area of the state has kept residents in tears.
It was gathered that human parts and fresh dead bodies were discovered at an uncompleted building, inside a bush along the Express Way. A source hinted that curious villagers raised the alarm, which prompted security agencies to invade the location.

NUPENG Cautions Chevron, Shell Against Proposed Sack Of 18,500 Workers
THE Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has expressed concern over reported plans by Chevron and Shell to sack about 18,500 workers worldwide.
The union in a statement described the sack threat as alarming, adding that the development is adduced to the dwindling oil prices in the international market.

Niger Delta ex-militant leaders in support of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) struggle have given Federal Government 31-day deadline to free the leader of the group and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, or face the consequences.

Police patrol team in Rivers state on Wednesday engaged men of the underworld in a heavy shootout following a tip-off of an armed robbery operation at filling station along East-West Road by Etohu, a suburb of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State . The policemen stormed the scene and chased the fleeing suspects -as two were caught up in the gun battle after they were over-powered by the Police. One of the armed robbers, Emeka Eze was later arrested.

Shell, Chevron, others to cut investments by $73bn in 2016
Global oil and gas investments of Shell, Chevron and other
majors are expected to fall further to their lowest in six years in 2016 with a
cut of about $73 billion, New Telegraph has gathered. According to Oslo-based
consultancy, Rystad Energy, the investments are projected to dip to $522
billion, following a 22 per cent fall to $595 billion in 2015. With crude
prices at 11-year lows, the world’s biggest international oil companies (IOCs)
producers are facing their longest period of investment cuts in decades, but
are expected to borrow more to preserve the dividends demanded by investors. A
report by the Oslo-based firm sited by New Telegraph revealed that at around
$37 a barrel, crude prices were well below the $60.
PDP convention under threat over Secondus
The
National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scheduled for March
2016, may not hold after all. This is due to the lingering confusion over who
leads the opposition party. A Federal High Court in Abuja had, last month,
sacked Prince Uche Secondus as the acting National Chairman of the party,
following a court case instituted by a former Political Adviser to ex-President
Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Ahmed Gulak. Secondus has gone on appeal to contest the
court’s decision.
