The global ranking of highest marijuana consuming nations sees Nigeria ranked eight in the world.

Globally, there is a strong movement to move the drug off the illegal classification, and regulate and tax it rather to raise revenue and better control its use. Several countries such as The Netherlands and Uruguay are have already adopted it.

FG Declares Tuesday, July 5 And Wednesday 6, As Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr

The federal government of Nigeria has announced Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6, 2016 as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitri celebrations.

Eid-ul-Fitr is an annual event which marks the end of the 29 0r 30 days Ramadan fast by Muslims all over the world.


Lt Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), minister of interior announced the Eid-ul-Fitr public holidays on behalf of the government of the federation on Thursday, June 30 at Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Elechi Amadi Has Passed On, Aged 82

Elechi Amadi, one of Africa's finest poet and novelist has died on Wednesday 29th of June, 2016. The dramatist died at Good Heart Hospital in Port Harcourt at the age of 82.

INEC Fixes July 30th For All Rivers Rerun elections

All Rivers Rerun elections have been scheduled to take place on the 30th of July, 2016. According to LeadersNG, INEC Source confirmed this in a statement made available on it's Tweeter Handle.

Meanwhile, Kogi, Kano and Imo House of Assembly elections will be on the 23rd of July, 2016.

Minister Orders Tertiary Institutions To Refund Post-UTME Fees

Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu has directed all tertiary institutions that have
conducted post-UTME examination to immediately refund money taken from candidates. The minister has also declared that post-UTME examinations already taken are null and void; threatening that any institution caught still conducting the examination under any guise would be sanctioned.

China Builds World's Most Powerful Computer

A new supercomputer from China has topped the latest list of the world's most powerful machines.
The 93 petaflop Sunway TaihuLight is installed at the National Supercomputing Centre in Wuxi.
At its peak, the computer can perform around 93,000 trillion calculations per second.
It is twice as fast and three times as efficient as the previous leader Tianhe-2, also from China, said Top500 which released the new list on Monday.

The Senate Has Approved 241 Billion Naira For 2016 Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Budget.

The Senate on Thursday, June 23, passed the 2016 budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

A breakdown of the budget shows that N18 billion for personnel cost, N231 billion for development project, N10 billion for overhead and one billion for Internal capital.
The budget is expected to be funded with oil companies contributions and others which amounted to N130 billion, ecological funds of N10bn and other internally realised income of N100m.

However, the NDDC budget which was originally N260 billion was slashed to N241 billion by the Senate.

David Cameron has resigned as prime minister after Britain voted to leave the European Union.

The prime minister said Britain required "fresh leadership" to negotiate the country's exit from the EU.

"I do not think it would be right for me to be the captain that steers our country to its next destination," he said in a statement outside Downing Street.

He promised to "steady the ship" over the coming months before stepping down in October.

BREAKING: Britain Votes To Leave The European Union

The historic referendum held in the United Kingdom Thursday to decide whether they decide to stay in the European Union or leave it, has returned a verdict for the so-called Brexit camp.
With over 30 million people voting in the election, the highest turnout since 1992, the leave camp has polled 52% of the total votes cast, in contrast to the 48% of the remain camp, with less than 3% of votes yet to be tallied.
In short, Britain has voted to exit the European trade body.

BREAKING NEWS: President Buhari Cancels Planned Trip To Niger Delta

President Muhammadu Buhari planned one-day trip to Rivers state for the flag off of Ogoniland clean up has been cancelled. 
A source revealed that President Buhari will be represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
The cancelation is not unconnected to security threats to the President from a newly formed militant group, Niger Delta Avengers who had threatened to kill the President should he step foot in the Niger Delta region.

The is the second time the president has cancelled shecdulled trip to Nigerian states, after he blamed an ear infection for cancelling the visit to Lagos where he was scheduled to commission some projects finished by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode two weeks ago.
